I live in the woods and this time of year bugs can be a real problem in my home. There have been ants, spiders, and lots of little nasties crawling around lately. The last straw was when I had to squish a few ants that were crawling over my kids beds. The thought of bugs crawling over my kids while they were sleeping was just too much. There was absolutely no way I was spraying my home full of toxic chemical laden ant killer. So, I decided to try a natural and effective DIY ant repellent spray instead.

The results were truly amazing. The day after I sprayed, I did not find a single bug in my home. I sprayed once a day for the first three days, and then I started spraying once a week after that.
There are only two ingredients and can be made super quick! The best part is that it is completely safe and non-toxic. You don’t have to worry about your kids or pets coming in contact with any harmful chemicals.
To make the spray, fill a quart size spray bottle with distilled water. If you do not have distilled water handy, just boil some water, wait for it to cool and then fill the spray bottle.
Next add 100 drops of Cedar Essential oil.
Cedar oil is effective because it blocks the pheromone trails, dissolves insect eggs and kills the adult insects as well.
When you are ready to spray, give the bottle a good shake. Spray the interior and exterior of your door frame, and windows. I would also spray any areas where you have seen bugs crawling around.
Spray daily for the first three days and then as needed. I chose to spray once a week after the initial three days, but you may not need to.
And that’s it! Quick, easy, safe, natural and effective DIY ant repellent spray.
I would love to know if you tried it in your home and if it worked for you. Please share in the comments below.
